Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) reports better then expected earnings today. Stock up 26% in pre market.
Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: ABK) (Ambac) today announced third quarter 2009 net income of $2,188.3 million, or net income of $7.58 per diluted share. This compares to third quarter 2008 net loss of $2,431.2 million, or net loss of $8.45 on a per share basis. The third quarter 2009 results reflect significant unrealized mark-to-market gains in the credit derivatives portfolio and gains resulting from reinsurance cancellations during the quarter. In 2008, Ambac’s third quarter results reflected a significant negative net change in fair value of credit derivatives.
ABK hasn't moved really since this morning. I'm not an expert, that's why I was asking about it being shorted. Is that what it means when there is volume, but the price isn't going up? I've lost enough money on stocks that should have gone up, but didn't from being shorted. Trying to learn how that works.
I'm watching for a break up through $1.62....high of day. The Fed decision statement seems to be so so, looks like its not having any effect on the market but the volume is higher now
